Within 30 years of collecting in the background of a firm (plumber)
Mrs. Erika Haas from Leibnitz opened her private collection to the
public in 1994.
In two rooms the collection dates back to 1683. Special items from
Hungary, France and even Great Britain are presented.

| Temple Museum in Frauenberg |
This museum shows you Roman life style of those days and also the
religious importance of the valley around the river Sulm.
Situated next to the oldest gab in Styria right at the ground work
of the ISIS NOREIA temple ranging back to the change of the 1st
and 2nd century and parts of architecture of the MARS
LATOBIUS temple you can touch the Romans.
There are also exhibits from the Neolithic age to the late antiquity
–field of tombs Frauenberg

| The castle of Seggau |
From around 800AD the area belonged to the archbishopric Salzburg.
Nowadays the castle of Seggau is a modern and important conference
centre in the south of Styria.
The wonderful renaissance court with the Roman stones (Lapidarium)
is worth seeing, also the chapel and the clock tower with the famous
bell named “Liesl of Seggau”. You also should visit the more than
300 year old wine cellar where the delicious wine is stored.

openings: The castle is open the whole year round, you can visit the
Roman stones, the chapel and the wine cellar for free. If you want
to see the rooms and the bishops´ gallery and the famous clock Liesl
you only can do this in a guided tour. Please book in advance.
Guided tours for visiting the Castle and wine cellar including wine
tasting is only possible by booking in advance (groups with more
than at least 10 people). The guided tour will last about 45
minutes.
Between May and October: Every Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sundays at 11
a.m. for groups with at least 8 persons: € 3,-- per person

This
museum offers the possibility to enter the Hallstatt era concerning
life and importance of the Sulmtal necropolis on the hill of
Burgstall next to Großklein, the most important centre in Sothern
Styria in the Iron Age.

| Nostalgia on wheels |
The topic in this special place is the motorized and mechanized
world of the fifties and sixties in the 20th century. On about 1700
m2 you can see more than 200 vehicles, many motors of
different style and age, ancient radios, more than 5000 big sized
photographs and a lot more from the good old days.
We
are proud of this different museum and also present farm products
and a small present shop.
Snacks and drinks are offered in our small restaurant.
We
also organize events.

| Kremsner Mill |
Here you can see a most impressive block of houses with a mill for
pumpkin seed oil, a corn mill, a hydro power plant and nearby a
castle situated at the cycle path R1. It is also a meeting point for
the pre historical hiking trail. In a small shop you find typical
Styrian specialities.

| Adventure- wine path – Technical
college Silberberg |
This technical college for viticulture and wine growing was founded
in 1895 and is situated in the south-eastern part of Austria, in the
midst of the southern Styrian wine region, near the wine-growing
town of Leibnitz. Silberberg is owned by the Province of Styria and
is the only technical college for viticulture and wine-growing in
this province of Austria.
The 1.5 km long path leads you through the steepest wine yards in
Southern Styria.
There are 18 charts with pictures and many tools from ancient times
which show the history of Styrian wine growing. The visit is for
free. At the entrance to the path the Urban-Statue welcomes you. It
weighs about 5 tons and it is 5 metres high. This statue was built
by smith artist Ewald Stani. Another work of art is seen along the
path: The vine louse which weighs about 250 kilos.

Get in touch with the Romans
at the museum of Flavia Solva
Flavia Solva was the Romans´ administration capital during their
times on the grounds of Southern Styria. The historical presentation
of this ancient Roman settlement is important for economy and Roman
culture.
Between the city and the temple area you find the Roman burial
ground "Gräberstraße". In this museum you can inform yourself about
the History of the Roman Empire and the city Flavia Solva.

Roman Village Wagna
Next to the excavation fields of Flavia Solva the community of Wagna
built a so called Roman Adventure Village. The Romans get alive
again: Visitors see Roman fights, archery, dice throwing, stone
putting, gladiator fighting, races on war chariots in the arena,
Roman games for children for the whole family, ancient tools, Roman
souvenirs and presents, an old Roman flat with several exhibits and
of course you can enjoy Roman snacks within your visit.

| Rauchstubenhaus in Gündorf, St. Johann im Saggautal |
The „Rauchstubenhaus“ in Gündorf near St. Johann im Saggautal shows
you a typical building of Southern Styria. This house was built in
1700. You can see the typical living situation in those days,
furniture, tools and more. The house consists of three parts. The
middle built with walls and next to it 2 big wooden rooms. In the
year 2002 the roof was thatched with fresh straw.

| Mill Hartlieb - pumpkin seed oil –
once and nowadays |
The original Mill ground of this corn mill situated right at the
river Sulm offers a special exhibition and is well known as the
Museum of the pumpkin seed oil. Visitors are shown all the necessary
raw materials, different tools and machines, the usage and of course
habits and custom of the old days. Just come and watch the work when
producing pumpkin seed oil. Next to the mill you find a small shop.
There you have the chance to choose between pumpkin seed oil,
specialities made of pumpkin seed oil, different nibbling cores,
vinegar and exquisite products coming from the natural park in
Southern Styria.

| The world´s highest „Klapotetz“
Demmerkogel |
This special windmill called “Klapotetz” has got eight wings. It was
the purpose to expel the birds from the vineyards. At the “Jakobus
festival” on July 25th the windmill gets started and will
be closed on November 11th at the Martini festival. This
“Klapotetz“ is the symbol of the wine land. Its sound depends on
size and wood.

natural park stands for all senses….
...27 communities in the district of Leibnitz cooperate in this
project "Naturpark Südsteirisches Weinland". The area covers 354 km2
and Leibnitz, Kaindorf and Seggauberg are in this region. This park
is well known for steep vineyards, woods with chestnuts, fields of
hop, meadows and a wonderful countryside.
